Soraia is Gauri Khan's restaurant, which means the interiors were never going to be anything less than impeccable — and they aren't. What's more surprising is that the kitchen matches the room's ambition entirely.

Anisha arrived at Soraia for lunch and found a dining room that functions like a showroom for what Mumbai's most sophisticated creative energy looks like when directed toward hospitality. Gauri Khan's design fingerprints are everywhere — the palette is restrained, the furniture is intentional, the lighting achieves the rare feat of being flattering to both the food and the people eating it. The menu spans European and Mediterranean territory with a confident hand, and the service maintains the warmth that the spare design aesthetic might otherwise undercut.

What Anisha Ordered

The Burrata with Fig & Aged Balsamic arrived simply plated and genuinely excellent — the burrata was as fresh and silky as any in Mumbai, the fig added a sweet depth that paired beautifully with a good aged balsamic drizzle. 9/10. The Wild Mushroom Ravioli was pasta done with commitment — handmade sheets, earthy filling, a brown butter and sage sauce that was restrained enough to let the filling shine. 8.5/10. The Pistachio Semifreddo was the meal's most beautiful plate — pale green, precisely quenelled, with a cardamom crumble and rose petal garnish that felt like a Gauri Khan mood board brought to the table. 8.5/10.

The Bill

₹5,180 for three courses. For Bollywood's most prestigious dining address at this quality level, the bill is fair — Soraia could charge a celebrity premium and probably does, but it's justified by the execution.

HEII Score: 2/5 ★★

  • Interiors are among Mumbai's most beautiful dining rooms ✅
  • Wild Mushroom Ravioli is the dish to order ✅
  • Pistachio Semifreddo is the most beautiful dessert in the collection ✅
  • Atmosphere can skew formal — relaxed lunches need the right company ⚠️

Verdict: Soraia proves that Gauri Khan's reputation extends to the kitchen as well as the design brief — this is a restaurant that delivers genuine fine dining in one of Mumbai's most beautifully designed rooms. The Pistachio Semifreddo alone makes it worth planning for.
